I judge by how spellbound I am
If you like Ninja Gaiden 1 or God of War 1 then you will like this. Attacks, combos, executions, evade and block work just the same. If doesn't feel sluggish or bad in any way, and it doesn't feel old either, but it feels like the engine of those games - so know what to expect. You can block everything except glowing attacks, so use block whenever you feel overwhelmed to slow down time a bit. You can evade as much as you like, so use this whenever you want to separate the enemies on screen - they will follow you. Quick Time Events (timing buttons to on screen prompts) can be a bit unforgiving at times, but are always preceded by a checkpoint, and they never change button order - so remember the order. The game would benefit from free-look-camera and lock-on-target, and some audio mixing between speech and music. Controls should've been Lock on / change target - SCROLL PRESS Light attack - MB1 Heavy attack - MB2 Fire gun - F Grenade - Q Execute / Action - E Rage - R Evade - LALT Block - LSHIFT I give this game a SOLID rating, 4/5, but could be 5/5 if changes were made. (1 glitch encountered, where the game would not continue after a ship fight)

Pirate God of War/Musou with some Jank
Swashbuckling, fixed-camera brawling action as Peter Blood, based on the Rafael Sabatini character. Quick time events during bosses and cutscenes. Game has good heart, and quite a story (has been in development hell since the 2000's), but after finally being fully released still suffers from some significant issues. Audio mixing is one of the most common complaints, as character dialogue is VERY quiet compared to music and sound effects. Parrying feels inconsistent, and one can easily get juggled by enemies if not careful. Character mouths move in less sync than Warcraft 3 portraits. Playing a character other than Captain Blood feels half-baked and unnecessary. At one point, after a weapon pick-up broke, I was stuck in the pose of the pick-up, unable to attack nor drop the invisible, unusable weapon, and had to restart from the checkpoint. Fix the bugs, adjust the volume, and give this just a little more polish and I could give this 4/5, with some REAL TLC, 4.5/5

Cool game but no
One thing that destroys CB is no changing camera angle with mouse. I cannot play a h'n's game without it. I wanted to play, wanted to like it but no mouse=no play
