I love the game, in-depth content. I learned where the term "assassins" come from! The main protagonist Nico is very attractive, with her beautiful french accent. I wonder who is the voice actress for her? Must also be pretty, I guess/assume... Though the man who is the voice actor for george sounds alot like american actor Brent Spiner. Overall the game is fantasic especially since I got it for free with the 6 million games downloaded event! Thanks!
Okay, I reiterate that I'm no good at adventure games. I played a bit of the original after reading some other reviews on here. True, the atmosphere is much different, but after a while, Win7 issues and the general adventure game problem ("what the heck do I do?") came about. So I set this aside and a few weeks later, I decided to try the director's cut. Yes, I know built-in hints hinder the "eureka factor" but the varying degree of hints made me feel like I wasn't a complete moron. You get a little bit more of the story which diminishes the twists a lot. But George and Nico's story kept me playing until the end and I didn't have to quit to look up a walkthrough.
I started out playing Broken Sword 2.5 and got halfway through when I thought I just HAVE to see hown everything all got started for Stobbart and Collard--> 'adventurers extrodinaire!) So I paid and downloaded the first 2 games-(updated ones) and have not been disappointed in the least,,! I especially enjoy the main characters from game to game as well as the engaging plot twists. This entire franchise is a must have for fans of point n click adventure games! Great job to all you folks who made these games availible at such a reasonable price. bye4now,,,starlynx57
for providing the original with the new version! :)
And I strongly want to give players who don't know Broken Sword already an IMHO good advice: play the original game, first - then you will enjoy the genuine feeling of playing it and understand, why this game earned cult status among its players.
After that you will enjoy that extra portion of Nici in the beginning of the new version :)
But after diving deeper into the new one, you also will soon be very, double or triple happy to have the original, too.
a) for reasons of comparison and b) because the bf version definitively lacks the charme the original version will let you love it for.
And while the price is so reduced that even getting the new version alone would be a bargain, you should really put this superb bundle in your basket, today, I'm pretty sure you'll not regret it! :)
(sorry, my English is not too good, for I'm no native speaker... but I hope it was understandable)
My advice, play both versions. but the original first. The director's cut adds several scenes that allow you to both play as Nico and learn more about her back-story, which is nice. But several cut-scenes are missing or broken up from the original, leaving the original feeling much smoother and cohesive—in a way more cinematic, which is how this gameified story is supposed to be enjoyed.
