That satisfying flow and well-tuned gameplay make the lack of big-budget polish a negligible issue. The game is also only $20, making it well worth every cent, and further excusing some of the repetition and lack of polish. The biggest complaints with the game are not that the concept and execution aren't good enough, the issue is that the game deserves more content, more attention, and more development of its great ideas.

One Hell of a Loop

BPM drew me in with its core "do everthing to the beat" loop and honestly, it kept me with it. I found that after beating the game the first time I had to go and spend hours more in it. At that point I was hooked. Mechanically it is fairly shallow compared to other games in its genre, and the success of runs is heavily luck-based, but I just found the core loop so engrossing that I just got totally sucked in. Rating is more a reflection of my personal enjoyment rather than of objective quality.

Great, but it gave me mental problems

I love everything about this game. The concept is marvelous and the execution is just as good. But after playing and having to replay the first level for hours, the music bore itself into my brain so deeply that it played in my head on repeat for days after having touched the game for the last time, so much so that I could hardly sleep anymore. So while it's great and all, I wish there was some variety to the music.

Great!

I have been waiting for this game for at least a month and when I finally got to try it it was everything I expected and more. I love the controls and different weapons, but what really got hooked is the OST. Awesome work from the devs

Great time killer

I love the music and the bold presentation of the game. You get used to the enemies quite quickly and it's satisfying to execute a clean room sweep :) Chance plays a huge role in how a run will progress. Sometimes you get lucky and get OP items, sometimes it will be careful and slow run where even the weakest enemies will make you tremble. A large swarm of flies might be your worst enemy. The game is great - just sit back and enjoy! I would love to see a native Linux build.

When Doom meets Crypt of the Necrodancer

Short random levels, random loot, die -> start from the very beginning You should shoot your weapon in harmony with the music beats (but you can turn it off). Cons? Weird graphics, some unfair moments (I did not like to be killed by a boss on his loading show up). Pros? Awesome gameplay, music. And no issues with ammo! (but weapon reloading also should be synced with music). One of the best indies of this year imo.
