Bombshell is a game I want to enjoy. Environments are visually interesting. There is some fun weaponery. There are fun "parts" that we've seen in other games (isometric view, collection, side quests, exp). It's clear there is love in the project, but unfortunately it sometimes feels like the game wants the player to dislike it, technically and mechanically.
Aiming is poor. Very little/wonky lock-on during fast player and enemy movement, meaning you'll miss more than you'll hit. There is actually a "weight" behind Bombshell, so a lot of actions have a delay. And other weird things, like the shotgun fires from Bombshell's actual hand instead of player model, meaning if enemies get real close all those shots won't connect. Also gamepad support feels way worse than k+m, instead of better with extra aim assist.
Levels are large, leading to a lot of walking around and fighting respawning enemies. Very few encounters feel designed, because most encounters sort of happen. Sometimes during elevators enemies spawn next to you with no lead up time. Because of the aim issues already stated, the player depletes ammo for good guns all the time, leading to backtracking for ammo on the ground. There's also some slight platforming for some reason.
The camera is downright bad whenever traveling to the bottom of the screen. Top left and right are fine, but still enemies will hit you before you see them, and because of the aiming, you'll probably not be hitting them.
Technically, I still get frozen black screens from time to time. When I start the game I have to check my resolution, as it changes on its own. Instructions will continue using keyboard options even when playing with a gamepad.
It feels like this should be a fast-paced third-person shooter given the accuracy needed to hit enemies, but we get bad feeling isometric shooter. Bombshell is a cool character, the enivronments are great to look at, and there is a lot of potential, but the game isn't there. Buy on sale only
