There are many problems, but the main issue is that the game is cheating dices. e.g. fight is easy, the game is rolling dices for failures or in such manner that enemy will be left with one life, so he will have a chance to strike back. Currently I am in fight where something like 8 enemies after hit remains exactly with 1 life. Not 2 or 3, but with exactly one.
And by the way it has nothing to do with Baldur's gate. It is only using it's trade mark
Yes, before people mention it, i am aware that it is an early access game so there will be more work flowing into the prduct down the line. The grapes i have lie more in issues that may not change, given that its about the story, characters and some of the systems in the game.
One major gripe are the companions, some of them feeling incredibly flat even at the end of the playable part and some of them i kept more for mechanical purpouses then for wanting to keep them.
Another is the general story as sadly most places, after you have finsihed their mainquest line are essentially done with little reason to return which feels like a bit of the a waste.
A minor gripe is that you can not pause the game, both when you go into the main menu and your inventory the game keeps playing in the background which can be annyoing with roaming enemies about.
So far, I lke the story line, and plot lines they develop. Occaisional blue screens, which I am not currently worried about until it is fully released. Not a true 5e rule set but close enough. Some differences may be defects (off hand weapon loses stat bonus to hit but keeps bonus to damage; should be the other way around.) Currently allows you to get to 4th level.
Would like to see Hexblade added in the final version as well as multi-classing
I have been looking for a game to fill the hole that origins left behind and this is it. If you are looking for a great RPG then this game is for you. Yes this game is in early access and its 60 bucks but the first act that they give you access to has more "Choice and Consequence" then the entirety of cyberpunk 2077.
I'm impressed and feel good about supporting this studio, and cant wait for the full release. Hopefully they keep the rpg intact and add more of it and please keep the custom protag silent!
