The human race has expanded into the galaxy thanks to the wonders of the technological singularity. You have become so powerful that you can manage vast armies across an entire world that provide you with an ever greater galactic empire.
Now, humanity is under assault by a new enemy. Calling themselves the Substrate, they seek to annihilate the human race from existence. You, as an up and coming member of the Post-Human Coalition, must deal with both this new menace as well as renegade humans trying to lay claim to their own worlds.

Escalation succeeds at making Ashes of the Singularity a bigger, better, sleeker RTS that allows you to play its great new content alongside just about everything from the base game (including the lacklustre original campaign missions).

Well beyond simple DLC, Escalation polishes every aspect of the base game. The campaign is excellent, and the expansion of defensive and upgradeable structures helps ease in new players. New technology amps the scale, but also provides tools to manage the larger world. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is a fresh coat of paint for an already-revolutionary RTS.

no disc and the game not run without it
the first time i tried to run it, it worked but, on i7-8700k and rtx 2080 ti it defaulted all settings to low. that in itself is a serious bug. the second time i tried to start it, it did not start because i did not have the disc which prevents its cd-check from authenticating the game, preventing it from running. multiplayer also does not work, likely because of no disc.

Might aswell be the best...
Look at other strategies with streaming economies and big armies. The king is old. We all love him and we will play him (or, maybe we'll just think that we will) from time to time. PA is flawed in its core. I wanted to love it but I just can't. I own it anyway and I want more games like that and I want more players to play them... And then there's AotS:Escalation... The game has some things in it that I think should be improved. And it grows slowly and forms in a much better game all this time. It has a lot of room for improvement because it has potential. It's not perfect, but if I compare it to the other titles, considering budgets and monetisation models, and the moves made by the companies - my money is on this game. I am playing it from time to time and a single tear drops from my cheek. It needs more players, to become that game we all wanted (not really, but really). It is the best one around if you ask me. Let it grow into something bigger. Buy it.
