The human race has expanded into the galaxy thanks to the wonders of the technological singularity. You have become so powerful that you can manage vast armies across an entire world that provide you with an ever greater galactic empire.
Now, humanity is under assault by a new enemy. Calling themselves the Substrate, they seek to annihilate the human race from existence. You, as an up and coming member of the Post-Human Coalition, must deal with both this new menace as well as renegade humans trying to lay claim to their own worlds.

Escalation succeeds at making Ashes of the Singularity a bigger, better, sleeker RTS that allows you to play its great new content alongside just about everything from the base game (including the lacklustre original campaign missions).

Well beyond simple DLC, Escalation polishes every aspect of the base game. The campaign is excellent, and the expansion of defensive and upgradeable structures helps ease in new players. New technology amps the scale, but also provides tools to manage the larger world. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is a fresh coat of paint for an already-revolutionary RTS.

Almost retro
The game feels like something that was made 20-30 years ago. Story is like fan fic. Limited gameplay options to tweak. Speed too slow...time consuming and painful to play. Nothing that really shines.

ashes of the singularity: Escalation
update: the game still crushes from time to time but it a lot more rare and you can now actually play the game. the game is OK. the graphics is good but there is not a lot variety in the units. and the story is only so so, you get most of the units early in the game and then the mission are basically a repeat of previous missions
