Ashes 2063 is a total conversion for the GZDoom engine that dismantles Doom II and rebuilds it as a survival‑oriented, Fallout‑meets‑S.T.A.L.K.E.R. adventure. This mod delivers a richly immersive journey through irradiated wastelands, gang‑ruled ruins, and mutant‑infested highways.

  • A Gritty Rebuild of Doom – explore dozens of hand‑crafted maps filled with explosive, fast‑paced combat and tense exploration.

Top-Tier Post-Apocalyptic FPS

This is one of the best games I've experienced since maybe DUSK. This is basically for anyone who ever wanted to play an FPS in the Fallout universe, but wanted the gunplay to be actually *good*. Oh, and on top of everything else, the soundtrack will blow your socks off too. Don't waste time, download it now and thank me later. Here's hoping we get Ashes Afterglow and Ashes Hard Reset added onto GoG as well...

Masterpiece

The greatest single player FPS of the decade - perhaps of all time. It's insane that all of this work is free. Do yourself a favor and play as soon as you can.

Professional quality.

There are about a zillion mods out there for OG Doom 1+2 at this point; new mechanics, weapons, enemies, levels, entire campaigns, and even a surprising number of total conversions. Having said that, Ashes is probably somewhere in the top 10 for most people - like, encompassing everything, not even just campaigns or TC's. I won't claim it's some kind of revelatory or expectation-defying experience; it's not a Russian Overkill, Guncaster, Reelism, or Abort. It's just a really well made TC campaign, up there with Adventures of Square, The Golden Souls, or the rare commercial offshoot like Hedon though I'd say it gives even those a run for their money. Mad Max-adjacent worldbuilding, weapons feel punchy, levels have really solid design. Give it a try.

Awesome gun fight, very nice difficulty balance, surprisingly good plot for a boomer shooter, visuals and audio of very decent quality. Given that it is a free to play mode I must say its really outstanding!

An excellent mod

It's amazing what someone can do with the Doom engine! This is a blast of a mod: It has a distinct feel and mood, the action is good, the maps well done, audiovisual style is excellent. One of the better FPS experiences I've had in recent times, and well worth your time!
