Flawed unofficial UW3 but nice effort.

the game is too short if you don't bother to do all the optional quests. it's more like a proper 3D version of underworld 1(by looking glass) , except smaller and more stupid jumping "puzzles", rather than a sequel to underworld 2. the weapon and armor enchanting spell is a nice feature... too bad they nerfed it in most patched versions because it get madly overpowered if you combine all possible ingredients into your final weapon or the easter egg weapon. remember to save often for AFAIK the lastest patch doesn't fix some game-breaking bugs that will stop you from winning the game unless you use an FAQ and kill everyone for mission critical stuff. lastest patch does however nerf the unbalanced overpower fireball spell. however just like the underworld games, creating a magic-user right from the beginning is far superior than creating a musclehead or a "thief" character.

Good old game, but...

I like such kind of games, however little bit annoying interaction with the things when it opens also the inventory etc. Also the map is very poor, you don't really know where you are. Howvever the game is still very good and interesting untill you come to the part of the game, where Ylsides attack you. They are disproportionately strong and that was the time, when I immediately uninstalled the game without finishing it. I didn't want to cheat and this part made the game almost unplayable.

WARNING: GAME WILL CRASH OFTEN

(note: played steam vrshion) I'm on crash number 8 right know and only level 2 so this is more of a first impression. It seems Arkane studio's ambition to create what is basicly Ultama Under World 3 minus Lord British and the Avatar. The atmosphere still holds up to this day as very few games try to make the player feel alone and despite many NPC the vibe is still present. But unfortunetly I have to adress why I only gave it 3 stars. For starters Theres the FATAL MEMORY ERROR which happens way too often (suposedly a fix called Arx Liberattatis fixes this but I couldn't get it to work). Also the spell system is clunky and impracticle for combat (if not effective at times) some time it will mistake one rune for anouther or fail completely. Melee is better but hasn't aged as well often lacking in physical colishion detection and odd handeling. I can't say much about the story other then your actions dictate what happens rather then dialoge unlike other RPGs. But with that said the main character is thuroly unlikeale as he often refuses to help people at first without any player input. I recomend this to Fans of games like Fallout new vegas, Ultama underworld, Ledgend of Grimrock and mole people.
