A great storey and a game that aged well

I played the sequel first and came here for the story. The story is just as great. The sequel wasn't enough of a spoiler to ruin it. The graphics aged well except for the cutscenes, which are pre-rendered and look worse than in-game graphics on modern hardware. Bugs: the game doesn't even launch when there's a non-ASCII characters in the user name. A workaround is to copy the nonexistent path from the error message and create it.

What a great game

Its new and old at the same time. Looks like a classic horror film and slightly dated tech but the story and gameplay are great. this is one of my favorites and its totally unique. best movie ever...

I love it!

Wow, this game really surpised me. The mood, the dialgoues, the episodic nature with episode recaps, the gunplay was all great. I got this elsehwere at a great price, but it is worth $14.99, in my book. I just started Episode #4 and it has a draw that keeps me coming back. I checked my PS5, and saw that I already had it. Oddly enough, on the same difficulty level, it is a much easier game on th PS5. I love it!

So Different

This game is seriously so good. I have yet to finish the Remastered version but the classic really held up for me. I loved how different the game ways compared to other horror games I've played. I started with this game in the franchise and I now own and have played the rest of the series as well as dabbled in Control. The controls are definitely fitting of when the game came out but I got a feel for it pretty quick. The haunting, isolating and depressing story really got me as well as the references and the excelent music selection. I love recommending this game to people.

Hard to see why this got a sequel

I picked this game up very cheaply to be fair, but have not found it particularly compelling. The story revolves around author Alan Wake, in what I am assuming is his own world as he writes his next novel (so none of it's real), with murder and zombies as he tries to find his wife. The game itself is very static, not open world with some puzzles to solve but also some very poor quality combat with a flashlight and pistol that isn't at all satisfying. I'm nearing the end of chapter but honestly not feeling any desire to grind this one out to complete. There's really nothing great about this game, and it has certainly left me not interested in the sequel that recently was released.
