Here's the idea for further promotion of GOG storefront.


Everyone is longing for bigger discounts on wishlisted games, so why not show typical GOG user some favour by offering a personal offer of discounted games from his/her wishlist on his/her birthday? Just make these discounts a trully special by taking some extra percents off the prices, for birthday's gifts sake!

This may be presented in form of either a random selection of games from user's wishlist, bundle of random games from user's wishlists or, more preferably, in form of selection from some games picked by user as its most desired beforehand. Lattermost scenario will require some work on the site's functional to allow users a hand-pick of that sort of games in their wishlists as "highlighted"/"most desired" (say, at least 10 titles but not more than 20, to have a rational assortment). But I'm sure most people will prefer exactly this scenario!

Ok, I know that if there is something to benefit by, there are always people trying to cheat and abuse on that. But GOG may set some rules to avoid that, like restricting the validity of offer to at least 1 year old accounts with at least $25 spent in the store during last 12 months or something like this. Because, yes, why give this offer to a freshly created account or to someone who don't buy anything at all for a long time? Fair enough. If someone is a standing customer, he/she deserves some respect for the loyality! Also, changing the birth date in account's profile should adjourn the next such offer for a year to prevent the most obvious abuse.

AND, if you want to fully developed that idea, here's a supplement one to this: give a friends of the birthday user a similar offer before the user's birthday, just to help them to congratulate the birthday boy/girl with perfectly suitable gifts. Present them a exatly the same selection of games from the user's wishlist and ability to gift it to the user directly (like in Steam) on its birthday. To prevent a situation when someone's is purchasing the game/games to the user for its birthday and then the user is trying to buy the same game/games, just make this "gifting" offer a few days before the user's birthday offer and then, if some games were purchased as gifts, exclude them from the user's birthday offer before making it.

Neither Steam, Uplay or Origin have this feature. GOG may be the first to implement that sort of treat. And it may make a difference both for GOG and for its users greatly.
