Download all button for the entire backup :-)
Oh GoG please, do this. I wpuld love to backup my games it it were easy. I refrain myself to buy more games as I fear ever GoG/Steam go down, or I pass away, all my games are lost. I would buy many more things If I knew my kids could try them when I die or with me If I live long enough and expect GoG and other platforms to stay around, but having a backup is a real reassurance I will be able to play my beloved games whenever I wish. Thing is with over a 1000 i can't manage the downloads, this should be made much easier an upgradable. If you solve this I'm all in!
this really needs to be a thing already
I prefer full-installer backup instead of the 4GB segregated files personally. But either feature would be preferred.
Yeah, it would be useful
Or add download manager where we can choose what to download (long list with "select all" option, tags "backuped" or not, genre etc.).
Yeah, I'd basically want it to handle like the old GOG Downloader, only it queues your entire library and downloads it all automatically, including extras and installers for all the platforms.
The GOG Downloader already used to give each game its own subfolder in the download folder, and I think that was a good solution, but manually clicking the download button on hundreds if not thousands of games and extras is a lot of work.
A "Download all" button for my entire library, dlcs and add ons included, would be wonderful. I have so many games it takes weeks to back everything up one at a time. Slooooowly clicking each item to download. Please, for the love of my sanity, add this feature to GoG Galaxy as soon as possible.
I'd like to back up all my gog games quick and easy, and I have a few hours to spare in the coming days. But if I could just press one button per game and get everything (like with the witcher 3 GOTY), that would save me a lot of time.
What, you mean like when you buy a game on gog.com and want to download the backup installer (no gog galaxy) and you gotta download 10 different files? would be nice to just press one button and download them then having to go one after another.
I'm not against this, but how would you handle it? Single zip for each game? I manually download (I don't use the Galaxy client) and have separate child folders for extras and DLCs. Just dragging everything into one folder would be a headache - is this executable to patch the main game, or patch the extras, or one of the DLCs, etc. If this is gonna be a thing then the filenaming conventions have got to be improved (and yes, I know they're quite long already).
Yes, this - and maybe let us download plain zip files so I don't need to run through the whole list and apply magic to free everything from the gog installer and repack them in a sane format.
This! I love you guys and I know you are going to live forever but... The whole point of a non DRM store is to own the games I get. So I see no reason to allow me to get only one game at a time. Google let me get all my info in one single file (or multiple if I choose size) the last week I got all my photos (300gb) in a click... I assume is a bandwidth issue, but maybe some tech like bittorrent to aliviate the servers? Anyway, add this feature and make the GNU/LINUX galaxy client and you will make me your loyal buyer for life. Thx.
What I'd like to see is something like this... but implemented via Metalink so it's easy for 3rd-party tools to also support it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalink
(For example, if Metalink were used, then even the Firefox DownThemAll! extension could be compatible with it.)
Plus, Metalink has some very nice nice benefits:
1. It's not just a "playlist format for downloaders". You can embed metadata like SHA1 hashes in the Metalink file.
2. You can include both a full-file hash and piece hashes so the downloader knows how to re-request only the corrupted bits of a file that fails the overall hash check.
3. You can use HTTP Accept header negotiation to silently upgrade the non-gogdownloader links to Metalink so HTTP download managers just automatically gain hash verification if they support Metalink.
See here: www.gog.com/wishlist/site/add_hashes_to_the_files
It would be fine if we could look up the hashes online, ideally a tool would check them automatically. That wouldn't put so much load on the server but it would give me confidence that I have the latest files.
Options to download based on selected would be awesome:
+ Linux
- Mac
- Windows
+ extras
i.e. download all Linux games + extras.
With a big library it's tedious to go through and find out which games had silent updates individually. I would love this feature!
I have a lot of games on my account and a download all (maybe 2 buttons? one for just the games the other for the bonus content) would make adding them all to the downloader much eaiser
