Saamat I hate to crush your hopes but there are two major easons why this initiative will fail. <br /> <br /> 1) FF VII remake is coming to PS4 - S-E will want to earn a lot on its own <br /> 2) a port of FF VII's original release is available to buy on Steam - as long as this agreement is in force I seriously doubt Gabe Newell will allows to have his competitors have the rights to distribute the legendary FF.
ZMacZ All Final Fantasys if possible, but at this point any will do.. <br /> (PC versions ofc..) <br />

Xeshra I would enjoy having this game on GOG but to be realistic, this is probably the most difficult stuff GOG would have to tackle. Square-Enix is a lover of DRM methods, checking out the Steam Version, there is actually several DRMs linked to it, a Steam Account and a SE Account both at the same time have to be enabled, else it will not even run. Looking at this matter... people ask for a lot and SE is protecting their games at all cost. Why should they even release a GOG Version? The sells is probably so low compared to any other sells, the majority simply is enjoying it having a kick in the butt... they do anything possible in order to play it... so, GOG is somewhat out of spec here. <br /> <br /> I could be wrong, who knows... FF7 is one of the best RPG ever made, no question but, SE is guarding their cash-cow well a non DRM release could be a nightmare in the eyes of this company. Of course, not even several DRM will prevent this game from being "robbed" but blind fate will always stay blind fate, any change is a major achievement at this spot.

MegisED I'd buy a DRM free PC version, if they release with the console quality soundtrack, not that awful midi version of the PC port.
liamphoenix I have it on PS1, still play it on an emulator, but I'd buy the PC port of the entire series if they were here. <br /> <br /> Since both PS1 and PS2 are well emulated now there's no reason to deal with Steam until you get to XIII, and that trilogy of titles were so bad I didn't even bother to finish when I owned them on PS3. <br /> <br /> Maybe XV would convince me to buy from Steam, but the PS4 demo wasn't exactly impressive.
bravoman I still have the original CD versions (all 7 discs) in their glory. DRM Free. C'mon SquareEnix, you've done it before. Would so get one that doesn't have that extra DRM feature.

BrandeX Not going to happen ever I think. S-E release has it locked in with their own always online DRM, including the Steam release. If they wanted it ever to be available DRM-free, or at least without their own launcher, the Steam version wouldn't have it too.

designbyadrian The PC version has worse video and music quality than the PS1 version - and SE just re-re-re-released that one on the PS4. It will be a while before we see this on GoG...

vannorden1214 square will not let go of it . if you buy it again (my 3rd time) know that you can only install it 3 times if you get new pc or if you reformat your current it counts as a new install FYI

Marscaleb Yyyyyeah, I have the PC version of this game. It's crap. <br /> The videos are lower quality than the PS1 and poorly scaled to a higher resolution monitor. The videos and the rendered characters are out of sync, the fully rendered minigames play too fast, the midi music doesn't fade, and they removed the lyrics from "A One-Winged Angel." <br /> <br /> Spend five bucks to buy an old PS1, or just spend $10 to get it on a modern PlayStation system. Don't waste your money on the PC version, and don't hassle GOG for it either.

maddNeal Now that it's on Steam I don't see a LOT of reasons why Gog couldn't get it. The big issue is the whole NO DRM thing. Square seems to be firmly in the 'YOU MIGHT HAVE STOLEN IT, SO PROVE YOU DIDN'T!' boat when it comes to digital distribution. <br /> <br /> I just wish I could go to Square and tell them that we DON'T CARE about the online features, or the achievements, or ANY of the the crap they added.

TheRedShadow I got the PC re-release last year for free when it popped up early on the Square Enix store but I'd still entertain the thought of buying it from GOG if it became available here.

Enclave996 Was going to get this on Steam until I saw that it still requires online authentication with Squenix. Screw that, they don't get to double up on the DRM. I'll wait for it to maybe one day come here and be DRM free.
nate1222 I'm with you guys on wanting FFVII to come to GOG. I went ahead and bought the Steam version, but would prefer it non-DRMed. I'd gladly go without cloud saves and achievements just to have it DRM-free. But, if I gotta tolerate DRM, I may as well get all the perks that come with it.

SpiderFighter Wish I'd come here and read about the DRM bs before buying it at Sqenix...I scoured their website, but couldn't find anything about limitations, so I assumed it was safe. Oh well; it's only $5.99 US. I'll still buy it if it ever comes to GoG for the support.

Darkwalker I have then original CD's for this game on PC. <br /> I havent played this game in years because I have been unable to get it to run with later windows versions. <br /> <br /> I could not get it to run when I used XP and when I swapped to Win 7 it only got worse. <br /> I have been all over the net to try and find a solution, but none I have found works. <br /> <br /> I really wish that this game would become available here on GOG and compatible with later windows versions. <br /> I have long considered getting the PS version, but would prefer to have the game on PC. <br /> I dont like consoles very much and prefer to have all my games on PC.
