Teppic The one thing that worries me most with Galaxy is the online component and how it probably will introduce more DRM with multiplayer games. I think a mandatory DRM-free P2P mode should be required for every game. The exception would be games like MMOs where a lot of data lies on the server side and a DRM-free mode wouldn't be possible.
Guph keeping things alive. But at the very least GOG who claims to sell DRM free games should allow one to search/find games that are indeed free of DRM.

Kenolapa I'm all up for gaining say the Online of portions for games back that don't have them now but did, but in cases to where the initial releaser of the game is still offering Online Multiplayer Support I think would make release issues for GOG, given GOG would have to wait till the initial releaser is no longer supporting the game to offer a "better" DRM Multiplayer service for that release. Given say again on the regards of accounts created there for those sites for those releases against say gaining the release here.
BentLent @ViperLancer, I love how you somehow got that he's a software pirate from him stating he was hosting a LAN party. I find that neural connection laughable but scary. Scary because there's nothing in his comment that states he pirated the games or even hints at it.
hollunder I agree that every game should have a P2P and LAN mode. It's not a ton of effort for a game that already has multiplayer. Servers go offline sooner or later, P2P and LAN keep multiplayer going beyond that point.
I understand that some specific games (MMO) will require a server and registration of some sort, but there is no reason for Galaxy to be in the mix. It may provide convenience for the registration part, but that's just that, convenience.

Even if you were required to be logged in to the Galaxy client to play a game due to some form of DRM for online multiplayer, why is that a problem? I mean, you do *all* own the game and aren't pirating/sharing your copies, correct? DRM free doesn't necessarily mean you are free to give copies to all your friends, it means no annoying DRM problems which you must deal with such as Ubisoft's horrible game-breaking DRM problems (among other companies), and the ability to install it on your own computers, for your *own* enjoyment, without dealing with DRM problems. Your complaint makes you sound like an idiot game/software pirate. Find a better reason to complain.
Inicus I wasn't expecting this to be a problem when Galaxy was announced. But now there are examples like Shadow Warrior 2 and 8-bit Invaders, which have all multiplayer features disabled unless you are logged into Galaxy. This was hugely disappointing when we had a planned LAN party
elsid There is ABSOLUTELY NO REQUIREMENT for DRM in ANY game. Nothing about the game being online or an MMO changes that.
