Control Ultimate Edition

Could be better

Play it for the story if you're into X-files type stuff. Combat is mediocre, enemies take 3 head/10 body shots to kill, gun has energy for 5-6 and then long regeneration. Save your sanity, go to assist options, disregard "optimized to be challenging" blahblah and turn on fast energy regeneration to even things out a bit. Then enjoy the story.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

If not for "cinematic experience"...

That could be a very good game if not for "cinematic experience". I start with good: after all the years the graphics still hold and game looks good. The exploration - when you are finally allowed to roam around an area freely - is great. But everything falls apart when you start following the main quest. Because nothing kills immersion more than wrenching the control out of your hands in random interwals, then returning it to you without slightest indication that you have it again. Ofh, and you are on short timer! Did not notice that you can controll Lara, AND your camera was completely screwed? Too bad, enjoy the death animation and loading. Play the segment again, sucker! Did I say already that I viscerally hate "cinematic experience" in games?

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Enjoyable but too big

Disclaimer: I have yet to finish the main quest. The game is too large, too many empty areas with quest objects here and there. But I still like it.

Hard Reset Redux

Enjoyable simple shooter

I keep on coming back to play it from time to time. Simple shooter with some - not really meaningful - upgrade elements. Graphics get stale though, very samey throughout the game.

Hedon Bloodrite

Could be good

This could be an enjoyable shooter, but the devs made this overcomplicated. And then you walk around without clear aim, picking things labelled "quest item" for quests you did not even know you had. There is no log, so or write every instruction from scrolls found in the game or keep going back and forth just to remember. Of well, the shooting is all right.

Project Warlock II

Great improvement over PW1

Glad to see that the devs learn from mistakes from first game. Away with dumb no save and lifes system. I was positively surprised there was an achievement for beating a level without saving, which says lots positive about level flow when you forget to save. Some drawbacks: Loading, loads and loads of loading. What the hell? This even ain't Crysis, not even Far Cry qua graphics, what do you load that long? Once the level is loaded, no complaints. Levels are imho too big and overcomplicated, no logic in them besides that "must be huge and labirynthine". But that is my pet peeve.

Project Warlock

It's all right

OK shooter, spells and upgrades are a nice touch. I still have to try a spellcaster though, there seems to be very limited amount of points available. -1 star for being unable to save between levels and being forced to do a 4 levels marathons when you would like a quick shootout. This is devs being lazy.

Torchlight

Torchlight

Where do I begin? The game is dated and it shows. And it still is an enjoyable hack&slash heavily Diablo inspired. It's getting repetitive towards the end and lacks some QoL we take now for granted - but a good way to kill an hour or two. And it lets you save anywhere ;-)

Shadow Warrior 2

Endlessly playable

I have logged more than 140 hours in this game and still keep on playing. Good for some mindless looter shooter fun.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister

Title

5 hours plaing is way too little, but for me - a beginner with D&D - this game is incredibly absorbing.
