Glad to see that the devs learn from mistakes from first game. Away with dumb no save and lifes system. I was positively surprised there was an achievement for beating a level without saving, which says lots positive about level flow when you forget to save. Some drawbacks: Loading, loads and loads of loading. What the hell? This even ain't Crysis, not even Far Cry qua graphics, what do you load that long? Once the level is loaded, no complaints. Levels are imho too big and overcomplicated, no logic in them besides that "must be huge and labirynthine". But that is my pet peeve.
OK shooter, spells and upgrades are a nice touch. I still have to try a spellcaster though, there seems to be very limited amount of points available. -1 star for being unable to save between levels and being forced to do a 4 levels marathons when you would like a quick shootout. This is devs being lazy.
I can understand that this seems to be a one persons project, so lots can be forgiven. However, the game tries to cram too many things into those few hours of gameplay. + visuals and general atmosphere. Game looks good. + simple puzzles, but I like it that way. - lack of optimization, it cooks my PC like it did some Bitcoin mining on the side. - badly executed "combat" and "run, the monster's chasing" sections. If the game simply stayed a walking/puzzle game, it would be really good IMHO. But the dev just HAD to insert some invisible-walls run away trial and error sections. And I really do not want to start on the quality of combat.
