My spotter on the third floor window of the seedy hotel accross the street sweeps the target's second story room, marking him and appraising us of an oblivious civilian. My partner and I have worked our way up to the corridors surrounding the room. There are two doors, and we take one each. I'd wanted to take this target in for interrogation, but I don't relish hauling an unconscious body while leaping from a second story window, or worse, navigating my way back through heavily armed security to our exfil zone. So. Lethal it is. I quietly radio to our ride out of here to get moving, fast. Then I give the signal and my partner slams open the door and his gun stutters fire. He severely wounds our target, but doesn't do enough damage to finish the job. Which is where I come in. I open my door and spray the room, spinning the target around in a final, bloody pirouette. The alarm has begun to scream, along with the terrified civilan who crouches in a huddle in a corner. Time to go. Now, the fun begins: getting to the exfil zone alive, hopefully not too early. Sigh. I really hate being shot. 9/10 The 9 is for the devs not making the Line Of Sight mechanic something that the player can use to calculate his next move. They are currently working to adjust that. As it is, it seems that enemies can land a 100 ft shot with a pistol through walls and do considerable damage. Supposedly, the weapon range will also be tweeked, which I'm looking forward to. Getting shot like that is irritating. Aside from that, this game is absolutely amazing. The combat requires THOUGHT. Go in like a maniac and you will die, and not just die, but die stupid. Recruiting agents and building their skills is very important and often makes the difference between success and an unmarked grave. Craft tools, hone skills, change identities and appearance (give yourself a mullet!). Play a game of cat and mouse with slippery enemy operatives, having to move your hideout to avoid a raid Decipher coded missives to get clues, trailing suspects until they slip up and reveal their plans. This game is really engrossing, if you like tactics and strategy. It is not fast paced AT ALL. So if you like fast paced excitement with frenetic movements, twitch shooting, etc., don't bother with this; you will be disappointed. While it is not XCOM, it has similar elements, so if you enjoyed XCOM (as I did) then you will enjoy this game.
