This game looks (for the most part) magnificent, and a great CRPG interpretation of the 5e System--and yes, it is 5e. Not 2e like the orginal BGs, and not Pathfinder (huh?). My only complaint is that the map is pretty janky. It's hard to tell where you can and can't go, is hard to navigate, and on top of that is just plain ugly, especially compared with the artwork of the maps in the first 2 BG games (hence why I knocked off a star). Most of the 1 star reviews are just complaining about how it's "too woke," and can be safely ignored by everyone who isn't ass-backwards. Bring on the gay bear sex, I say.

I own the base game on Steam and decided it was worth buying the complete edition on GOG, just because it's so great. Unfortunately, after getting as far as level 24, I cannot load the game. I get stuck on an infinite loading screen after clicking start, followed by needing to force quit. After researching, I found turning on V-Sync might work, which it did once, but also included massive stuttering (and I have a 5800X and a 3080 so it wasn't my system). Whe I went back the next day, not even V Sync worked. It runs perfectly up to character select, but freezes on the loading screen until I force quit. There are tons of people with this problem, and it was never fixed.

I don't normally review, but I thought I should share my thoughts on 2077. Most of my play time has been through the Steam client, so I could keep track of my FPS while I tweak settings. Don't expect "GTA 2077," Which it seems like a lot of people were looking for. No, there's no mini games. Instead, it's a giant world packed with indavidually crafted missions. Even the normally typical "fetch" and "kill this guy" quests are unique, with multiple ways to go through them, and each are well written and memorable. And there are literally hundreds of them. The main story is epic. Their focus clearly went into the writing and quests more than the mechanics of random citizens and trafffic jams, and I'm fine with that. The combat starts out "good enough" with both melee and guns, but starts to feel better and better as you level up and get more perks. Hacking is fun. There are definately bugs, but they're getting fixed, and I've come across none that are game breaking. Sometimes "fairly rarely, in my experience so far), the AI does just kind of stop in a fight, but most enemies do indeed run, shoot, find cover, etc. Despite the imperfections, I'm giving 5 stars because the good parts are just that good. They sit with me when I'm not playing, and it's been years since I've forgone sleep so I can play a game just a little bit more. I don't know who the people are who say "it's not an RPG," because I've been playing TTRPGs, including CP2020, for over 30 years. This is one of the best CRPGs ive played, and it's only going to get better in time.
