Overblown hate for a solid game

I'll try and keep it short while staying as objective as possible. + Great voiceacting, characters, storytelling. Well above what the average videogame provides. + Great sound. The music and how it is integrated is well-done. SFX has a nice oomph to it. + Overall a rather good looking game. + Most story-missions are really good. + Good gunplay. - Starts out strong but then gets a little repetitive towards the middle (only for the game to pick up again after thatto finish strong). This is because the middle is largely dedicated to taking over the city by assassinating targets, killing everyone in specific areas, stealing trucks, vandalizing, etc. For this reason the middle part of the game should be played in bursts, not marathoned. - AI doesn't deal with a stealth approach well and can be easily tricked. - The underboss system feels a little underbaked. Sidenote: The DLC helps solve the repetition in the middle since you can intersperse them between the standard takeover missions. They also add fun side-content (growing & selling weed and building up a sizeable bar with its own recruit missions) that you can chip away on as you play to alleviate the repetition. I recommend Sign of the Times and Faster Baby for this reason. Stones Unturned was underwhelming. Summary: A solid game that gets way too much (mindless) hate. Most of the issues people had at release have been patched and free content (like car races and costumes) have been added. It's a game you generally want to stick to the main story missions since (much like prior Mafia games) there really isn't much to do in the open-world. You're mainly there for the story, worldbuilding and action.
