Hellslave

Simple and fun indie RPG

Hellslave is a simple turn-based RPG with first person view and static enemies. The fun in the game is in finding better loot, building a cool build and overcoming your enemies with a combination os skills and spells. The sound design really does a lot of heavy lifting to give impact and a satisfying feel to the combat. The story is pretty cool, inspired by christian mythos and the art is like a grimdark comic book. It could use a more robust crafting system, but It's clear the scope of the game was supposed to be small and fun - and it does accomplish that. I do recommend it as a casual RPG for anyone looking for a game that takes less than 15 hours to complete and you can pick up at any time.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

A flawed gem

The game itself is amazing. The best term to define it is "scrolls-like" due to its resemblance to the elder scrolls games. The combat is satisfying, player choices matter, the game design is great... but it shows its flaws. The game doesn't have the best graphics, performance is poor and it's pretty buggy, even after 1.0. Still, I've had a great time with it. If you're looking for a semi-open world RPG in the vein of Skyrim, but with an arthurian legend coating, Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon, however flawed, is a great game.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

A surprisingly fun Gwent adventure

I really wasn't expecting this game to be this fun. All your battles are fought as gwent matches and most battles will have their own objectives and rules or be puzzles you have to solve by making combos with your cards. The story is really good, the art is beautiful and the voice acting is spot on. I really do recommend Thronebreaker!

Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition

Fast-paced, funny and a lot of fun!

As a fan of the franchise since the original from 1997, this new take by Flying Wild Hog on the franchise has been improving since the reboot in 2013. Shadow Warrior 3, to me, was better then the previous two entries: BEtter graffics, more responsive controls, better movement and platforming, good jokes and an okay story to wrap things up. But the best part of the game is the satisfying gunplay and swordplay. The guns feel meaty and the SFX convey their power very well (this has got to be the best SFX work in the franchise, by far). The combat is very fluid, the arenas are mostly vast and offer a lot of options for movement and repositioning. The enemie variety is good and the gore tools are a lot of fun to use. This game lived up to the hype and delivered a short, but very fun 6 hour (on medium) game that's worth your money. I do recommend it to fans and non-fans alike. Especially if you're looking for an alternative to serious and grey-ish military shooters. I'll give it 5 stars, but the game is a 9/10 to me, just because it had a few hiccups in the framerate during cutscenes. Other than that, it's a very polished and fun game that deserves your attention!
