Star Wars™: Jedi Knight™ - Jedi Academy™

Shooter, sword fighter, platformer?

I think this game gets rave reviews from fanatical star wars fans, not from normal gamers. For a 2003 game this was fairly good looking, it has a nice story that's worth seeing, had little to no glitching, and had a huge selection of maps. This feels like they didn't know what kind of game they really wanted to make so they just included as much as possible without making sure it all worked correctly (looking at you speeder bikes). The AI even for 2003 is pretty basic, the controls are okay sometimes and bad at others, and many of the guns and powers are useless the second half of the game. I did have a pretty good time taking advantage of the stupid AI to get enemies to fall off of building, bridges and other stuff. As a shooter its kind of lack luster do to enemies that just stand there as you shoot them. As a light saber fighting game it's controls are terrible but the AI is so bad that they have to outnumber you or put you in scripted fights you can't win to make enemies a threat. There are also a few weird level that don't really fit with a shooter/fighter game and keep it kind of interesting, but control kind of funny. Still I had some fun and the pre-disney story was way better. I wish this had been the basis for the 7th movie, I would have watched more than half of it.

Kingdom: New Lands

I've played better free games

As a strategy player, real time and turn based I thought I would like this little game. Dead wrong. Couldn't find anything I liked about it. No strategy. No options. No game play. No saving. No graphics. Looked up the wiki to see if I was doing something wrong. Nope, just how the game was designed. Game also glitches if I try to run it in windowed mode. Waste of time, waste of money and will not by from this producer again.

Clive Barker's Undying

I wish they finished the series

80/100 I'm rating this based on the fact that it is from early 2001 and was actually being developed as early as 1998. The problems. Two game braking glitches, both making boss battles unwinnable, one during the final boss. (I don't know if either of these are normal or just my copy of the game.) Not a good sound track. No tutorial. Mediocre controls Bad inventory/ gun/ magic screens and control. The good. For 2001 visually amazing. This would have blown my mind as a teen. Crazy, weird, strait from the mind of Clive Barker enemies. Hugely differing landscapes in different levels. Better story than any other shooter I've played and I've played a lot. The cool buildings and geographical features. Gory and sometimes scary, but not too much. Puzzles that aren't overly complicated or logic bending. (Just explore.) Actually requires some skill to survive. (New games tend to have little actual threat.) Biggest part is the Story, with journal based written exposition, videos and game clues. Sadly its a one play through type of game that never got the expansions, multiplayer mode, and sequels that had been planned for it. The story of its making and canceling is fairly interesting, but very sad considering the content we could of had.

The Flame in the Flood

beautiful but bad

First of all if you like artsy games wait for a sale and buy this one. I really wanted to like this game for it's ascetics and quirky feel, also it had a dog. But the whole game felt like I was beta testing an unfinished game. The entire game seemed like a functional but glitchy and not a very functional beta test. I kind of wonder if they ran out of money most of the way through and just made what they had as playable as possible. The movement was the worst part. The game itself is not hard at all, but people rate it as hard do to the bad mechanics making it hard to play not hard to survive. By the end of the game all novelty has worn off the it just seemed like a chore to finish it, but I did. I loved the idea but sadly like love at first sight you tend to fall out of love just as fast. All that said, I would buy a undated version or sequel to this game and don't feel anything bad towards the developers. And always remember. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean you can't be their friend.
