I missed the Kickstarter and then I missed pre-order by 2 hours so a bit peeved at myself for both! I love RPGs like this and despite the price I love the game unlike the reviews I read here so far. Price: As for extras, aside from getting the future DLC $75 was bit much for the extras we get which really had nothing to do with the game and they are right about the guide being nice about story and art. We really needed a Gaming Manual not an art book. Game: As for the game, I love the new way of leveling with lots to choose from in each class and the fact you can multi class, though I wish we could have multi classes at any point and not just at the start. One the plus side we get to choose what the NPC do and have the option to multi class then once they join us, the fact we can still level them up as we see fit is a big thumbs up for me. Con: Not enough Female pics to choose from and the ones we have half of them are hideous. Wish like with Baulders we could have added our own. I like the ship but miss the keep we had, The ship doesn't offer the same as the keep and we have to supply the ship and pay the crew, to me a huge money sink esp when items in the game are pricey. On a good note the docks so far have offered crates to loot with supplies to help. Other Pro: Your pets now give you and the party bonus and the skills work to buff up the party as whole not individuals which is handy for your character. A feature I really like. Quests let me know how hard a level they are based on my current one (I Play on normal mode) which is handy so I can decide if I want to try at that time or not. Other Con: Like in the First Pillars no ability to permanently raise your ability scores. It would have been nice to get a point every 4 or 5 levels. I am not too far into the game but there are lots of quests and the story so far grabs my interest, I will come back with another review when I finish the game. Overall a Thumbs up despite the cost!
I got this seeing the how similar it was to Sim Tower and to be honest it is a lot like it but with more additions. For me the overall rating was favorable and to be honest when I am playing I lose track of time, I think I play an hr when it turns out to be 6. Let me start by saying I did not really find any bugs and the game is not that hard to play but it does take time to open up things and be able to have what you want in your tower. I will Agree that it is somewhat annoying to have to drag your utility lines on every floor, they should have give us an easier way to do that one. Like a start and stop option where it does it in one smooth move. I disagree with people that complain on how places move out quickly and you are back to square one, If you pause after placing you will see what that store, office or home needs and can place it so it will not get frustrated and leave on you. After awhile you learn what the smaller Retail, Homes, and Business need and can do it before placing them. I can amass wealth easy enough by setting the speed on high and letting the game play while I am away from the computer which is great after you open up the ability to auto repair with maintenance crew. My 2nd tower I have over 4 million with a 15 floor tower and I still havent placed all the different places I can some are still not open because I do not have the luxury stores or enough tech businesses ect. and I just paused and totally redid the basement area using some of my funds. Overall I am having fun, though I will agree after all this time I would have liked to see a more advanced version of this rather than the same graphics as Sim Tower and to be honest you can tell they used that game as base for this one. There is so much potential here I hope they update it and give us more options and better graphics for the game. However, until they do I will continue to play and loose track of time...Still have Scenarios to finish up!
I purchased this when it came out, in fact I pre ordered it. It took longer to come out than most games but well worth the wait. The Characters within the game whether they can join with you or not are hold your attention and the the NPCs you have join you have some great onliner's with the party members, some get along some don't. They keep me laughing throughout the game. Each Party member has their own story and quest to embark upon which adds even more to the game. You can even have romance between your character and anyone of them depending on how much of a friend you become and you can even under the right circumstances marry Allister. Character creation was fair could have been better but I have seen much worse even by todays standards. Leveling up takes some getting used to for its a bit different than the usual RPG of its time but, you have more customization with Dragon age in this area so is a win. Story: Well done keeps you going though out the game at least for me I wanted to get to the end so I could see how it was going to end. There is more than one ending possible depending on your choices though out the game. That is all I can say without spoiling it. Bottom Line: If you are looking for an RPG that will keep you busy for more than 5 minutes and has replay value look no further. Not only is the story long but the additional DLC included here will keep you busy for a very long time. I have over the years replayed this game so many times with different combos of characters I have lost count. Your choices count so different things happen within the game depending on Race, Class, Romance and other choices your character makes. My only hope is that if we have bought this game already we can get have a free copy here like with the Witcher Series and some Steam games.
I bought the original when it first came out so I have been playing this for years and years, I have replayed it to say the least a lot. I purchased this for $2.99 along with BGII and Icewind Dale enhanced. The price, because I have the originals was well worth it and I will not disagree with other reviews if you have not gotten the original you should do that first and wait for a sale on this like I did. With that being said I love the changes in creation with new kits, new colors for avatars, and the fact they gave us a total stat points at the bottom of stats, no more watching for 17s & 18s. I now just watch the total at the bottom which makes it easier to reroll. My characters have between 90-108 for total stat points to work with which is great coupled with the fact we can alter each stat as we like as well. (It is very possible to get max stats though it doesn't happen often) Party mode is one of the greatest features for me where as I missed it greatly having come from the old gold box SSI's. I love parties for RPGS esp D&D and never understood why when coming out with a D&D Game they took it away. I never cared for most of the npcs in Baulders so being able to have a party makes me enjoy this enhanced version even more. I made a party of 4 leaving 2 spots free for NPCs along the way. You can play with a party for the original story or the new module that comes with it. I have not experienced any crashes or glitches and I am enjoying this timeless classic very much with the updates. Bottom line a great breath of fresh air for a timeless classic.
MM2 was the 2nd computer game I played once I got my commodore 64. Bards Tale 2 beat it by a week. Thanks to GOG I have all the MM games including Heros and the best part they are patched and no CD required. I could write a book on the pros of these games. The replay ability on it is endless and its fun to see what happens when you use different groups for each class and race bring something to the mix. If you want a great RPG experience and lots of fun then you found the right Game pack for you!
I gave this 5 stars because after all these years I still play it. Some expansions are better than the others but over all great game. The fact you can create your own world and host it whether online or by network really makes this shine. You can still get other players modules and lots of custom content for the game. IGN Neverwinter nights Vault sight has mods that people did based off the old SSI versions of D&D games as well. I Would have liked to see the other premium content that you could have gotten with bio ware points but perhaps EA/Bioware wont release it. There were some really good mods there. I am still playing and working on my own world its just that much fun!
