Rogue Legacy

Castlevania + Procedural Generation

Although it held my interest for eight or so hours, It made me want to play a good old Metroidvania without the procedural generation gimmick instead. Procedural generation & the Metroidvania style of games that rely on good, well thought out map design just does not mix well. This game will get the job done for a low end game to play when you're waiting for a download in the background or listening to a podcast, however it just does not hit the mark for me. There's better out there, but kudos for the developers for rolling out a new update after all these years though. It may be small, but post launch support without the modern game industry nickel & diming is always a nice thing to see. In short: Not bad, not great, but passable. If you burned through all other of the Castlevania/Metroid style games out there this may be worth a look.

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division

Great game, Poor support for modern OS.

I really enjoyed my time with this game when it worked, However GOG didn't optimize this for modern OS and there's bad visual glitches on the larger maps that make the game almost unplayable (Textures on buildings & mechs stretching across the map like rope or spaghetti is a commonplace, sadly. And this was with the recommended fixes on the forums) It's sad that GOG let's the occasional great game slip through the cracks when it comes to actually fixing and optimizing them to actually work on a systems from this decade without fiddling with virtual machine or tinkering with multiple fixes and trial & error to get your game you just purchased to work. I love GOG, but you guys really need to come back & fix Shogo to run on modern systems right out of the box. This game deserves better. If you're running anything newer than Vista, be warned that you will need to fix the game yourself.

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War

Scratched that cyberpunk itch.

Obviously does not touch the original but if you have not played Deus Ex & Human Revolution in awhile this will fit the bill if you want to revisit the series in an entry you haven't chewed through yet before Mankind Divided comes out. But be warned it has smaller environments even by HR's standards. But still a great game. Go in with your standards in check and you'll have a good time. For two bucks on sale it was a steal and i didn't experience any crashes whatsoever in Win 8.1 like i have with a few certain rushed GOG's ports recently.
