I play this games years late but it doesn't matter. It's one of the games where you die over and over again. Did you miss a clue? A pathway? No matter, you will die. The atmosphere is well done. Without revealing too much, your cam corder is the device with what you will see the world around you. So far, i can say that even though in theory the game is short, you will be stuck for a long time. The term to get stabbed in the back, got a new meaning with this game. Even though i bought this game when it was on sale, i would not regret buying it when not. I can wholeheartily recommend the game to anyone who likes scary games with a lot of jump scares. 10 years later, it's still a terrifying game.
Got to say, that this is a pretty awesome game. Where i could spend lots of time with Bethesda games, this is probably a little more limited. But there a several pro's for me. 1) Multi-platform. So no matter what platform you are on, you can play it. This is not something that is standard. So i applaud this and play it on my Linux at the moment. 2) Visuals - very appealing. Everything looks great. Driving around with your truck is joyful. Finding goodies on the way. For some reason i always run over dear's. 3) Story. Well, i am not sure about it. I think the story is ok for me. I think what i like is how you are engaged with the Patriarch but have to make some tough choices which could lead to departures of your fellow crew. Thought that did not happen to me yet, i read it can. I will mention that i still did not finish the game. I actually hoping that it will take me time to finish. 4) Hidden gag's. One of the things i enjoyed as silly as it may seem is the booting up terminals and here Windows sounds. Overall i am very happy. I am not getting bored and are engaged with the story. You learn as you go and this is especially true for character builds. So i hope we see more great games like this also for the Linux platform. Money well spend.
I am not sure how many of my space crew already died a horrible death or how many times i ran out of a resource with no escape to safety. It is a very enjoy full game that draws me back in every time. The mechanics seems ok to me and there is a lot of potential. So far, i played about 20 hours and it is hard to let go. Even the music stuck into my head. I kind of wished to be able to create space ships that can several floors, but maybe that would make things to complicated. Like i mentioned, it takes a couple of times to actually make it work, so your crew does not die all of the sudden. Of course exploration is a big motivator, to find more resources and to manage to actually build things on your own. Since i ok with the money i spend and being happy to made the purchase. Lots of AAA title have surely more wow, but i am fan of titles likes this, as they tend to bring more value. In a sense it reminded me about Starflight. Though it was different.
Prelude. I never played the original Prey from 2006. From what i read, it isn't related in any way. I did not know what awaits me. The game is amazing in the science fiction theme. The atmosphere is intense and once you encounter the first mimic, you generally view everything differently in your surrounding. What stuck with me is the atmosphere in the game. The graphics, i have an old graphics card, is amazing. So that may not be for everyone as for me. But i liked the solving aspect of the game. Puzzles here and there and the overall balance. If you play the plus game (i am not sure if that's already with hard perhaps) you actually bleed and get sick from radiation. I thought that was pretty great. Another aspect i like was the space walk. The sheer openness and the feel of helplessness made an impression on me. So yes, i enjoyed every minute of the game. If you liked Bioshock or Half-Life, you will like this game too. Story is of course different but the game has its chills and scares. Recommended.
you know, i loved this game at the time it came out. And i even love it more, since i can replay it again. The best part of the game is dukes voice which gave the game the appeal. There are so many Doom clones, but this is by far the best and everyone who like fps game should have this one in the library. It may not be good by todays standarts, but its a game which will be always on everyones mind if he/she thinks about fps gaming. good ol duke. save the babes. :)
