This is a slow-burn open world game less focused on the minutia and mechanics of it's combat than on creating a beautiful, haunting atmosphere for it's mysterious world. It's gotten increasingly ambitious as development has progressed adding more side activities and quests. Wide, rather than deep is the tradeoff here, however. I've finished the game twice coming back for a second playthough on hardcore difficulty after only three months which is an incredibly quick return for me. The game made such a strong impression it never quite left my thoughts. I'm back for more right now due to the incredibly generous and continual content updates. This is an incredibly approachable and responsive developer that cares deeply about the game. It's a true passion project with a singular vision and all that entails. It's not going to connect with everyone, definitely, but if it does connect with you it'll never let go
