The pixelated graphic is nice but if it were not for the praisable humorous dialogs, I'd say this game is a tutorial for children in the adventure genre. Puzzles are easy and there is no story in the game as it is divided into episodes, with just superficial facts connecting them together.
The story and graphics are good but the game contains several bugs and voice acting is poor. Some puzzles are illogical or hard to solve just because there is no clue on how to solve them. I would recommend this game only if you can get a big purchase discount.
Machinarium is a mixture of point-and-click adventure and puzzle games. Although I love adventure games, I'm not a fun of puzzle ones. Yet this game really captivated me with its beautiful graphical art, animation and story. This is a truly professionally crafted game, way more mature than previous titles as samorost 1 & 2.
It sure is an unconventional adventure game since I'm fan of the classical 8-bit game style. Art and animation are very nice. A few puzzles on the other hand are rather illogical. The twist near the end was innovative but mostly killed the magical atmosphere set at the beginning. I bought this game with a 30% discount but I still think it was overpriced since gameplay lasts 4-5 hours.
I played this game right after Thimbleweed Park so comparatively this one is just ok. Except for the chalkboard puzzle, all others are relatively easy. Exploration of each location is quite limited making puzzle solving mostly linear and obvious. The feature of multiple endings was a plus and the story-line evolves quite well so that the player's primary goal changes a couple of times.
