I loved Shadowrun Returns. It wasn't overly long, had a good story and while it was completely linear, I enjoyed that. Dragonfall is more of the same but with a less intersting (to me) story. Add the inclusion of multiple side missions and the game meanders for too long. There is an over arcing story but the side missions just come across as filler. Which is all side quests are. But these ones are boring and I found getting through them just to continue the main story a slog. Love the setting and gameplay but I preferred Returns.

This is a good adventure game. It shows its age with some serious jank though. Your character (who is in a suit but looks naked the whole game) appears to run on ice whenever you move. There are some good puzzles but also some terrible ones. I used a walkthrough 3 times because I missed something very small, or it was before I realized some puzzles are just goofy and you essentially need to try all of the items you carry on an object. I did appreciate the puzzles that made sense though. When you think something through and know what to do it's always satisfying. But that is the difference between an older gameplay style (that they went with) and a more open/non-linear game. There is only ONE way to solve puzzles. I enjoyed the game overall but the voice acting is pretty terrible. The story is ok. And it really isn't scary. The person who said they played SOMA and rank this up with the scariest games played... no. I look at stuff in the Silent Hill series and this is not scary at all. There are some 'horrific' scenes but nothing scary. Recommend on sale but be aware it shows it's age. I think it would have when it was released too. I remember playing Blade Runner from westwood studios and that was a superior point and click game released decades ago. But this is a small studio and they did a good job.

Finally got around to this. I loved it. I haven't played an isometric CRPG for decades (aside from Pillars which I didn't really care for). I enjoyed the visual style, the game is quite linear in the sense there aren't a lot of true options or places to go. But I appreciated that. It kept the game and story tight and I was involved in the story start to finish. The combat is really good too. There is basic cover, movement and attacks. It's not overly complicated for no reason like a lot of games now. Highly recommended.

One of the best games ever made. Your first play through is something special.

Good game, but not as good as the hype. This is defintely a stlye over substance occurance. Visuals are very cool and unique. Some really awesome music too. Gameplay is pretty meh. It is way too easy if you decide to kill. Going stealth mode makes it a but more difficult though. Story is ABC revenge, nothing note worthy at all. I was hoping for a bit more unique gameplay, and not being able to interact with 90% of the objects in the game was a let down (I guess I am used to Deus Ex). But the game is highly polished and you gotta give them props for doning something (abit) different.

As another reviewer said, this is a game you can jump in, play 30 mins or 3 hrs and it is fun. Quite a nice break from a lot of overly complicated space games. Battles are super simple, exploring is simple... the game is pretty basic. But that's what I enjoy about it. If you are lookng for a very involved 4x game, just be aware this is not that.

This game is hugely over rated. The game is centered around 'mental health'. Which is a very unique focus for a video game. The problem is the game has nothing to say about mental health. We know our protagonist has issues, but nothing is done aside from mentioning it, thus that portion of the story/game could be entirely removed and it would have no effect overall. Aside from the lacklustre depth of the above story issue, the remainder of the game falls flat as well. Gameplay consists of walking around at a slow pace (you can slightly speed up movement) and looking at runes, which you then have to locate within the world. IE: A shadow might be in the shape of a rune you need. You then have the elementary combat which becomes more of an annoyance the more you experience it. When critics claim a game as ART I am always leery. This is another example, the 'art' of the game is so superficial, it really made no impact at all to me. The game is gorgeous to look at and has some excellent sound design.

I rank the original as one of my all time favorite games. Mafia 2 is good, but nowhere near the quality of Mafia. A few issues with framerate (because of the engine/hardware refresh rate) was annoying, but otherwise the game runs beautifully. Highly detailed environments, lots of destruction after big shootouts. The story is kind of weak, yet great. Overall it is nothing special, but I really really like how the crime doesn't pay. You go to jail, you get screwed over, it's not glorifying anything which is a nice change from the usual GTA drivel.
