So, I've been a fan of the Monkey Island series for about 32 years as of the writing, and as such I was pretty much the exact audience for this game. If you were waiting for the next adventure of Guybrush Threepwood it's a bit of a mixed bag I'm sure, but if you understood Guybrush was always more of a comic avatar than a fully realized character you'll love it. If the original game was capturing the experience of the Pirates of the Carribean ride as a child and the sequel was about starting to see the cracks in the constructed reality as you're a bit older, this game is about taking the same ride as an adult and the different ways we experience it. I personally enjoyed the puzzles but I'll admit the game as a whole is easier than the originals. Whether you find that refreshing or annoying is going to depend. I personally don't have the endless time I had as a kid playing the originals but if you're looking for a hardcore puzzle game I agree it's going to be disappointing. But if you grew up with the originals and can see what the devs are going for I think it's enchanting.
