This is legitimately one of the best turn-based tactics games I've played. I am by my own admission not very good at these types of games, but I was able to understand the concepts fairly quickly. I am playing a campaign on normal difficulty and do not feel overly intimidated. The atmosphere and music are fantastic too. Normally I would play this style of game with a podcast playing in the background, but I've changed that habit for Mechanicus. My one small complaint is that the lore can be a little opaque for newcomers to 40k (I played Dawn of War when it first came out, and that's been it). This is mostly mitigated by the writing. You will be able to understand the necessary lore based on context after a few hours. If you want to understand a world right away (no judgement, I completely understand that), you might want to excercise caution. Overall, Mechanicus has been a fantastic experience, and I'm really happy to support smaller games like this. I also want to shout out Mandalore for spotlighting this game for me.
