when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade we got this game from a friend of my dads and started playing it as a family. we all had a say in how we set up the party and naming them and all that. by the time we reached lvl 4 we realized we needed the clue book!! we sent away for it and the day it arrived in the mail dad took a week off from work and I stayed out of school we started from scratch and played for weeks, best part was when the sequals came out and we could port our characters over from the previous game. wish more games did that with their sequals!!
I discovered at the very end who wrote the story for this game and it floored me! the pasing was simple and the story for me hit so many buttons my wife started teasing me just for playing it cause I'd start crying. part of the story hit uniquly close to home and I found it very cathartic to play!
I know, I know. this game was going to be the masterpiece we always wanted. and graphically it is. the story is still captivating but I miss the interface and controls from the original. instead of the graphic pull tab for biochips now there's a panel you pull up with the backspace key?!? and to get to your inventory it's the (`) key no more can you just scroll up and down through the items. this may sound unfair because the work put into this was truly amazing, it's a beautiful game. it is. but the original format felt more like you were using your occular implant. Yet even with that one flaw I am glad to have played the game will probably continue playing it as I did the original and then later turbo.
