[Why you should play it] The best way I can describe this game to those who have never played it before is that it's like a playable Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, with a lot more animal people. If you've ever seen that film, you'll notice the game takes a lot of inspirations from it. Gameplay still holds up as far as JRPGs goes and I'm surprised there's deeper mechanics in it than I would've realized when I played this as a kid. Outside of the standard RPG fare, this game has the best fishing side game, second only to BoF3, some interesting exploration gimmicks in certain plains and deserts, and a hidden skill learning system that may help spice up some playthroughs. The only issues I think people will have with it are the grievances I listed below, and the odd camera placement that seems more clunky than it should. Outside of that, it's still a great JRPG. [My grievances] This is a mildly revamped version of the PC port from 2003. The game plays well enough and has full keyboard/mouse and controller support, sans the icon for whatever controller you plan to play with. You'll notice at first that the sprites have a blurry look to them in addition to a this weird outline that's incredibly distracting. This can be fixed by changing the textures filtering to 'point sampling' in the DirectX config. Though this won't fix the model clipping that will be present throughout the game's cutscenes. The biggest issue I have with this is the aggravating soundtrack audio which doesn't loop properly. That alone can be very grating for people who want to experience this game and its fantastic story the way it's supposed to. Considering this might be the only legal version of the game you can get as of this writing, I can only hope that either a proper remaster gets made sometime in the future, or an update patch will be introduced to fix this issues.
