I always wanted to buy this game .. never wanted privacy crap from others. So when I turned on pc and saw gog launching then showing me "doom" I came to see. I did not install it, but i played the fitgirl version [ im not ashamed !! ]. I dont support bethesda but DOOM is special !! We all know "the doomguy" memes !! Indeed .. whoever rates less then 5 stars, we do need to have words !!
Dont really leave reviews but this is a solidarity cause !! Because "Eff you Blizzard" thats why !! We will probably have the servers removed .. still .. This is our childhood and GOG deserves credit for keeping it available and updated for modern hardware .. Pains my hert that blizaad will take this down !! But gog deserves recognition so here my money !! I dont own a lot of stuff .. Im here with the crowd to make a ruckus. Good Old Guys !! Peace out [ even if ill probably not play it anymore at least it will be lost in the library !! ]
I do not own the game here. Game started glitchey but they responded and sorted some stuff out [ though not all has been fixed ]. If you read most of the reviews they compare it with mutan year zero .. Nobody even mentions Corruption 2029 .. same game type , same mechanis , just different button setup. What is a shame is the discount. Don't get me wrong, its good for whoever wants it, just after less then 2 months to have the game 40% off means sales didnt go as expected .. Price was high to begin with anyway. Story is not new, nothing out of the ordinary. But oh damn, all them Unreal errors ... Game is decent once you figure out what the meta is .. then you simply clear the map in seconds. Jade with the crit kill shots becomes a decimator .. my 2 cents.
Who comes here and expects modern graphics will be disapointed. But real Gothic fans get immersed in the story and they do not care so much about the graphics. 20 years after the first game , this mod uses G2 engine and graphic but is used to tell a story , almost a prequel into thing to come. Game suffers with a few bugs but there are a few workaround them. The most annoying are the corrupt savings so be sure so save alternatively in different slots to not be forced to replay big chunks. There are places in the story where there is too much detail into one direction and too few into another. Combat somehow is a bit broken. For instance after getting to like 100 STR and using a edge/blunt weapon [ vulnerability/immunity not taken into account ] and not being able to one shot weak enemies like young boars or molerats, swampflies ... I found it a bit enerving having to hit some of those for like 3 or 4 times before dying. Thats why what I can recommend is using MARVIN mode + cheat god enabled til around chapter 3 [ sometimes even after that ]. But this one is personal choice. P.S. I see what you did here dear devs with MARVIN mode and the "that's me" xD Near the end of game you either play 2-3 hours then restart the game or you encounter crashes, so be warned. Your actions in the game do not affect a lot of things except a few angry npcs toward you and final credits where you see what happens with the people your encountered. [small spoiler ] P.S. 2 A fun fact regarding one possible end is the story continuation the devs did with Gothic 1. How Marvin gets sent to Khorinis and is able to keep Volker's sword. With all the scars on his face, and seeing how that blade looks its a 101% guarantee that he becomes Scar from Gothic 1 xD All in all this fals perfect into the Gothic universe. The mod is FREE and is a lot better then a lot of crappy 70$ pc games released lately .. forbroken , jedi bug, bug fall, the last bug ... etc etc Not enough love
