Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now

Violent Playground

Growing up I got my hands on the first Carmageddon and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was fun and off the wall with a sense of humor that really related to me growing up. The one thing that I never fully grasped in the first game however was the driving mechanics and I never really liked the black fog that reduced distance of view. The second in the series fixes these problems by adding a larger world to play around in that really feels like it lets you do whatever you want. You'll get by the block shaped characters, even when the game was released it was very jarring at first but the style of the game is that of comedy and the more you play it the more enjoyable it seems to be. When I saw one of the in game women get down on her knees to pray because I was parked in front of her I thought, holy shit this game thought of everything! This game reminds me of sitting around my PC with a friend playing hot seat on a cold winter day and laughing at all of the stupid and crazy stuff we were able to accomplish by driving around like a maniac, riding a log ride in the theme park level, crashing through buildings like a stuntman or trying to waste all of the drivers before they finished the race. Well worth the purchase price and although I own a disk based copy I'm tempted to re-purchase again just to support the fact that this game really does need to be on here with the rest of gaming history.
