Although it looks like a roguelike with similar graphic style and theme, it is actually purely a puzzle game with a roguelike skin. Which is a shame because i really would have enjoyed it more as a roguelike. The levels are random and the characters are standard fantasy but thats where the similarities end. The enemies stand still like statues and you are free to walk around them at your leisure. You start each map at level one and level up with a few kills but it only serves as a necessity to clear the appropriately matched monsters in order to progress. The game has its own share of tactics and style but it really doesnt deserve to be lopped into the roguelike genre.

I really liked the first game but this one.. yuck. Absolutely rubbish story, bad script, bad acting (except for Boyd), bad directing and overall sloppy design in comparison to the original. The new overhead xcom-like missions are slow and sluggish with poor ui controls, dumb enemy AI and illogical detection range for engagements. The best part of the game is the toy model cop-dispatch management sequence which is nearly identical to the first game. They changed the investigations a bit but its still the same goofy photo sequence guessing game. I waited for this to be on sale and im glad i did. In short, i felt like this one is not as good as the first one.
