Not very far into it, but I'd say it got my $9 of entertainment out of it already. I really enjoy the inventory system, and feel that the boss battles so far in the dungeons and beacons are pretty fun. It kind of reminds of Flotilla in but without the quirky stories. It seems like a its a quirky interface instead that is drapped over a pretty challenging little rpg. Every time I've died I haven't felt that it's been unfair, it's always been "well now I know how strong that is and what to expect" kind of moment. And death isn't all too terrifying. You can bury a character and withold an item of theirs to use on your next run, but this means you are sacrificing one of your starting gifts, such as higher hp or mp. I enjoy the skill the system, and I'm sure more experience with it's trees will lead more power players to create very catered skill builds. Going in blind, I still be able to make pretty appropriate setups. The stat system is interesting in that every one of the major stats are important and at level up you can build up 3 points worth. Agility means faster progress bars in combat, strength is higher melee damage(which even mages utilize especially early on), and mp is quite helpful especially if you secure an early heal spell or want to use your skills in combat more often. I'd say if you like roguelikes like flotilla, crypt of the necrodancer, dungeon crawl stone soup, or nethack you may enjoy this. It doesn't appear to be very deep compared to dcss, or nethack of course, but it's a great little coffee break roguelike. I wish you could control the volume of the in game music vs the sounds though. A minor comoplaint though and doesn't pull away from the game any.
Guys, seriously, the game is advertising falsely. Those screenshots are staged, and do not represent the game at all. There are no faction warfare battles, there is no overall complexity. If you reach the center it warps you back to the start. If you learn all the langauges you find out most of the aliens speak gibberish. It's a half assed, poorly made money grab. Do not buy this product. Ever. Do not support Hello Games further. -Bought on steam near release.
