The game itself is mostly fine though riddled with bugs. The multiplayer requires GOG Galaxy since the release of the DLC. This was not the case before the DLC was released, and due to the implementation of the multiplayer through invite codes, which do not require any interaction with Galaxy, this limitation is completely unnecessary and overall just a nuisance for anyone who does not want to install Galaxy to play their DRM-free games. The developers seemingly did this because they want to force at least some kind of DRM into the DRM-free GOG version. The updates on the GOG version are usually delayed and sometimes even only accessible through the Galaxy launcher. If you plan on buying this game in its current state and plan on playing multiplayer, you are probably better off buying the Steam version since Gloomhaven requires a launcher in both the GOG and the Steam version for it. On Steam, you at least don't get delayed updates; it is more stable, and you get access to the beta versions.
