With next to no experience with the later two entries, I enjoyed my time with this one. I also never played the original it was based on so I cannot compare it in that regard. The story was good, the writing was good and overall it was an enjoyable time. I am no writer or storyteller so I couldn't say whether it is sub par or not, but there weren't any moments where I thought it was too cheesy and I was pretty hooked most of the way. Gameplay wise it is just a generic cover shooter, playing on Classic meant that ammo and health were probably a bit more scarce than usual, but it wasn't too difficult. There are some features they show you and then never get you to do again, like the chase areas where a car in pursuit will crash, or lockpicking the cars. I never found these areas again, and never had to lockpick into a car apart from the one where you are taught how to do it. Driving is very floaty, corners are your worst enemy in this game, luckily the game has a 'skip drive' option to save a bit of time and pain however I believe you miss out on some dialogue.
