Short story: If you like roguelikes buy it. Long story: Excellent progression, addictive gameplay, hard as a rock and at times unfair, and at the same time incredibly fun. The soundtrack is excellent. Linux version can be a bit problematic with two controllers, however the windows version runs great both on WINE and PROTON. Regards.
If you like space games and exploring, this is your game. Be aware that this is not everyone's piece of meat, the pace of the game is slow and sometimes it doesn't do a good job of explaining itself, it needs a bit of patience, but once you get the gist it flows very well. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous 80% of the time, so much that this game is a desktop background generator. The sound design is great too, the ambient music is great, but IMHO could do with some improvements on the sound effects department (this is a minor complaint). As of 2019-02-31 This game has gotten 5 major updates and a minor visual update last December 2018, according to the developer there are more updates on the pipeline, each update has brought a great amount of content and activities and made the game increasingly more complete. If you're the type of person who likes to make their own fun, this is a great sandbox game. Runs fine on Linux via Wine 4.x (Ubuntu 18.04.x Mesa 18.3 Kernel 4.20.8 and Radeon R480) Recommended.
I played this game during years, so enjoyable I could not understand what people saw in the (by comparison) quite limited "Starcraft". You may have heard about this game from time to time and wonder: is it that good? the answer is yes. Even the quite good "Supreme Commander" doesn't match the fun of waiting for the Krogoth juggernaut to come to your base and trying to stop it throwing everything you've got at it. If you never played this game buy it now! TA did age very well and supports quite a big screen resolution compared to other games of the time. You can build truly huge armies that feel "robot-alive", there are lots of units and each of them server its purpose. Once you beat the game you can download hundreds of mods, and alter the game mechanics to your to your heart's content. The soundtrack alone is worth what gog is asking for the game, as it is one of the best scores on a game ever.
