Evil West

Pure 80s tough-guy monster-slaying fun

I held off on this one for a while even though it was on my wishlist ever since the first trailer. I simply was not sure. Well, after finishing it after 20 hours of pure fun I can tell you: if you liked the trailers and are ok with a completely linear game of punching monsters in the face then this might just be for you. For me this is one of those titles for which I wish I could thank the developers in person. I had such a blast from start to finish. Maybe a final word on the rating: originally I wanted to go with 4 stars, not because I saw any flaws in the game, on the contrary: it does what it sets out to do perfectly; I chose 4 stars because there are games like Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn, Journey to the Savage Planet or Shadowrun: Dragonfall out there which for me are true 5 star games. Evil West is more of a 4.5 star game. In the end, though, I just want more people to play this game!

Journey to the Savage Planet

At least the 4th best!

This game hit all the spots for me: great visuals, great sounds, music, brilliant voice acting (especially the AI), fun gameplay, perfect difficulty (for a filthy casual like myself) and exactly the kind of humor I needed (some other reviews mention that the humor might not be for everyone, well it certainly was for me!).
