Early Access impression of 0.5.0 hotfix C: I wouldn't have bought it if I knew how glitchy it is for now. A lot of assets are there, the cryengine makes for beautifull Lighting, there is some linear quest content (I found the Skyrim comparison ridicolous even before I bought it) but animation are glitching all over the place, there are a lot of moments where my character srpings in and out of the T-pose, targeting is fiddly and non sticky so you have to chase and clickspam all over the screen and will auto charge into a lot of monsters you didn't plan to engage. Right now, when I start the game, it ignores my mouse input, I can start the game a second time in parallel to work around that. It likes to crash, for me it happened when I fought the first boss still in the tutorial area and when I tried to go back to the main screen. So, right now I wouldn't say this is worth my (or probably) time and money and I want the developer to work on putting the game on a solid technical base and work out better targeting and animation flow and at least the targetting is indeed currently worked on but we'll see if it improves enough to not be so messy. I'm a big Diablo 2 and Path of Exile fan but I'm always on the lookout for new Hack and Slash games and I hope this will one day be a nice alternative. Right now, Wolcen feels like a mashup of Diablo 3, Path of Exile and Grim Dawn taking some of the good (huge skilltree, adaptable skills) and bad (D3's moon physics and Grim Dawn's clunkyness) from it's obvious inspirations and some interesting ideas of it's own like the dual resource system. We'll see if this turns into a brown broth that tastes of nothing and everything at the same time or if they can carve out a solid niche for their own that doesn't just try to coast by on it's good looks and flashy effects.
