Devs had no idea what to actually make with this. You get 4 mechs and fight 32, 16% of randon generated missions are 2x-3x more challenging then the rating suggests which is supposed to be for "Immersion" but really its a copout to good game design as the missions in question will always be over powered so the idea that your just supposed to run instead of the mission being adequately balanced is tossed up to "lore reasons" as if the missions in question ever changed to be doable without being uptonned to try and compensate, looking at you Attack/defend base in particular. But reviewer wont mods help here? Nope. In fact mods can truly exacerbate things. The game can be fun, but wait for a sale.
Game had great twists and turns with its story, right up until the final chapter and then depending on what ending your going for your dialogue skills and reputation no longer matter. I had companions that I were loyal 5 seconds before turn on me without the ability to even try to sway them. All in all it left a sour taste in my mouth, I can only suggest buying when it goes on sale.
