This was the first of its kind. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, all of those owe it to Alone in the Dark for their success. I recall playing this as a teenager on an old (brand new back then) 486 machine. The worst part is that the game crashed if I tried to save it (I bought it off of a friend of mine who had it on 3.5 floppy). Needless to say, I spent the entire summer playing and replaying this game until I managed to get to the end it without dying. And even then, right when I torched that thing (don't want to give away any solutions) the game would stall. It wasn't until later when I bought the trilogy on CD that I was able to fully see the end.
