Spindle

Instant classic?

Disclaimer: I followed the development of the game for years, so I might be biased. Spindle has really become a great polished pixellated action adventure that would be best explained as an homage to the Zeldas of old, when 2d still ruled. But it's also a modern game with great effects that smoothly integrate without ruining the charme of the 2d pixel look. And it's not just looks. It's funny, the story is engaging. Without boring you with hours of setup you are directly thrown into the game and learn the story piece by piece. I've not yet played the game in full, but so far it's fun and engaging to tacle the bosses and look about the map for hidden treasure. And as if this wasn't enough there are additional sidequests or minigames that while definitely extra, feel like a part of the whole. Only time will tell if this will eventually be regarded a classic in its own right, but until then you may just wanna enjoy a 5 star game - if Zelda-likes tickle your fance, go for it!

Drova - Forsaken Kin

it's not Gothic in 2D... ok, maybe

I played and liked Gothic 1 and 2 a lot. Gothic 3 was a hot buggy mess, but still Gothic under it's shaky armor. I only played on of the later Gothic titles that weren't called Gothic but were Gothic under their respective kilts. This game is the first Gothic I played in a long time and I like it very much, even though it is neither called Gothic nor developed by any of the former Gothic team. :-)

Deponia 3: Goodbye Deponia

Yet another Daedalic (i.e. bad) ending

I played Edna's breakout, nice game, funny - terrible ending, ruining it all. I played the Whispered World, nice game, chaming - terrible ending, ruining it all. I played Deponia 1 and 2, nice games, funny maybe this time everything would be different when playing the final game of the series? The game is great, mainly a logical progression of the story from Deponia 1 and 2. The humor goes a bit overboard at two instances, which left a sour aftertaste for me. Molestation just isn't a funny topic, ok? But even then the game was still really good. Right up until the end. It ruins not the one game, but the first two also. What's wrong with you Daedalic? Would I buy another Daedalic adventure? Propably yes. But I hope they will not have as bad endings. Do I recommend Deponia 3 to others? Only by adding that they will hate the end and should consider not playing it at all.
