fps shooter game to play. have widows 10 64 bit installed and works fine. Graphics are ok. Sounds are ok. For some reason when i start the game, i can't see the intro movie part, just the sound. scripted but, not as bad as some others like brothers in arms*. its doesnt bother me but, the so called racial rants and swearing get pretty bad at times (cracker???). i agree with a lot that you travel in a tunnel/hall/corridor where you are slowely bled to death by the time you reach your final objective you better ration your ammo. the AI bot buddies are the most frustrating and hamper me that they become your worst enemy. get in your way, bump you straight out into the line of fire. try to move and they constantly get in your way. the friendly bots cant hit the side of a barn they let enemy walk right by them. find it next to if not impossible to complete some missions with out using a cheat. kinda unrealistic to go on a SUICIDE run to mark a target for artillary or air strike? zook the radio man who could just simply call the strike in after you place a target on the spot with say the bead of your rifle? sure they used smoke markers sometimes. but seemed a little unrealistic to me? idk? ya its fun to cap a few bots but, frustrating as heck to try and complete the mission. it just gets worse the closer you get to the objective when you been slowely bled to death and low on ammo. grenade launchers wont blow up huts or shooting towers? i have heard a lot of hype about the 'vietcong' game, if its harder than this game, dont think i want to play it. my biggest complaint are my AI bots!!! i will give this semi-enjoyable game a 3 star and it doesnt even deserve that.!! most of the time i find myself just trying to "SURVIVE" suppose thats about the real experience of a vietnam soldier?
have windows 10, 64 bit, installed and plays good. can max its resolution in the game. very fun to play even just the quick matches are fun. yes, it takes awhile to learn the keyboard commands and that but, it really isn't all that hard. the bare games graphics i admit are a little on the shady side, and 4 sure the bots/AI get in your way just like some online tank games i have played lol. its not the greatest and its not bad either. probably better tank games out there. the game must have been something when it was originally released. and you have the GOG games add ons, Xtras to install (good luck with that), that greatly improve the graphics and textures in this game (thanks to the many developers out there who contributed them). there are a few more on the web that are great. with many more missions. GOG just didn't include a step by step instructions how to install them and use the "Mod Enabler" it took me awhile to figure it out. and now it seems easy to use. and greatly improves the game if you know how and what ones, and order to use them. i am still in the 'learning curve of this game' as well. some of the views are not so good, i am left a little blind. outside and in the tank, i didnt see any decent cupola views? its not as over taxing/overloaded the player as some other games do but, does at times. its fun, entertaining, affordable, and doesnt kill my computer. not fair to compare it to these new games with high end graphics, take up a lot of gigabytes, and you need a 'super computer to run them. was going to give it a 4 star but, this old gem deserves a 5 star.
love it, windows 10, 64 bit. i would call it arcade style sorta, something different than im used to. easy to fly with keyboard and/or mouse. supports xbox controller. would like a difficulty level like novice, medium, hard, and lol "invinsible". need more fuel lol only problem i have is she eats a lot of RAM/Memory (going to pick up a few sticks next few weeks lol) for this type of game. anyways its a very fun game thats easy to play and enjoy. like if i would like to just play a few quick rounds and enjoy a game. this game fits perfectly. i just love killing "Bots" lol
this is a very good game, tho there are a few bugs. the graphics are fine/acceptable for me, i can actually fly the plane. i didnt have any problems installing on windows 10 64 bit. the game is 20 years old but, the play is very good for its time and still is. i admitt like others the learning curve, remembering keyboards and such is a little hard at first for someone like me. after learning the little built in secrets it is a very fun game! The Bugs: 1.) personally i could do with out the crew animation parts like: "i don't want to die...help me ect... i understand the comrade and moral part of it but personally i could do with out it! 2.) when i swicth places/views like to go to outside view or flip back and forth from manual/computer the game always flips the computer mode back on and my landing gear automatically comes down/extends/deploys???? gets a little frustrating to quicly switch to manual and retract them only to have them extend again when computer mode comes back on again? maybe i am doing something wrong? takes a lot of time to map a joystick (maybe my joystick is messing the landing gear up?) other than that the game is very good and runs good! I like it better than IL-2! was going to give it 4 stars but considering its age and still a good game it certainly deserves a 5+ star. (LOL, dont forget to sign the mission book in briefing.)
AMD A6-3620 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 2.20 GHz. 6.00 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. Windows 10 Home, version: 20H2. game installed and plays fine for me!?! {legacy turned on and proper run time installed ("turn windows features on/off)...} I didn't have to do and compatibility or administration stuff either. mouse works too. i had SS1 and remember how you had to manually install, open the cd installer and it threw everything on your desk top and you had to manually place all the files in there proper folders and place that where they belonged in programs and such. lol I did not care for SS1, ("Command: Aces of the Deep" was way better). that being said, SS2 is slightly better than SS1, and not a bad sub sim, isn't great either. lol. I have to admit it is better than many other early sub sims out there lol. for being a second release they could/should have done better! "aces of the deep" is still better. still fun to play!! still looking for a newer sub sim that is better and not very complicated and doesn't kill my computer or my wallet. lol until then I will play SS2 and wait for SS3
this game is fun to play and waste away the hours on a rainy or snowy day. similar to railroad tycoon. no manual to help, have to browse around by trial and error to figure things out. the STOCK MARKET needs work, if you can finish a scenario with out the AI competitors buying you out, you have a option to finish the term allotted, with only a few months left the competitors always buy you out and game ends. other than a few little bugs still fun to play. if it wasnt for the bad stock market i would give this sim/tycoon game a 5 star.
