I know why it got a release but what it needs is a fan mod to fix everything broken about it. Sadly what is broken is everything. There are no saving graces to this game, it is noones favourite, I seriously doubt anyone has any fond memories of this game.
Rejected by many at the time because of the voxel engine and by many more due to the system requirements Outcast has grown in peoples hearts as a missed classic. With system requirements being trivial and the rich 3d environments still providing a unique and rich exploration mechanic the game in many ways is better suited to today's market. While it lacks the polish and pick up and play attitude of new titles the story and depth of character make this a must play for those that find modern games a little shallow.
Chaser is a solid if rough shooter. The story is interesting and well told for the age but the set piece fight scenes hark back to Doom/arcade mechanics rather than the slickness we grew accustomed to in the Half Life franchise. I'd argue that visually and aurally the game has aged well with a good Scifi soundtrack and cohesive level designs. If you are looking for a retro, story based shooter you can do far worse than this.
