I've played for 13 hours and I think it's time to throw in the towel. The first day I played was more frustrating than fun but I assumed I just needed time to learn the controls. But it's now the third day and I'm still not enjoying it. For me, the game is 20% fun and 80% frustration. The game has way too many traps, explosions, double-damage enemies, trap rooms that seal you in and spawn waves of enemies. Bosses can kill you in just three hits so you die instantly without getting a chance to learn their move set. Runbacks are long and often involve navigating spike-hell areas with parkour sections. After 13 hours I still haven't found any upgrades for my health, nail, silk, or any other tools that would meaningfully help me compared to the starting gear. This is partly because everything costs beads including benches, fast travel, and maps, so I never have enough to spend on upgrades and I don't want to grind for beads. Expectations plays a role in this. I expected a game similar to Hollow Knight which focused mostly on cozy vibes and exploration. Hollow Knight did get challenging eventually but it was mostly towards the end and mostly the optional DLC content. I believe Silksong could be just as great as Hollow Knight with only minor tweaks to healing, damage, beads, but as of this launch version I simply don't enjoy it.
