i really enjoy the atmosphere of this game, the graphics, the gameplay, the stats, the thinking to prepare the party and the planning to distribute stats points, the story, the tactical combats in hard mode (i didn't even try normal, it seems the rules for > difficulty is only the fact that ennemies will do more damage, and that you don't fully heal on level up, which is fine by me. Granted, some points in the game system are not clear (how does luck affect loot, for instance, and some other stuff, but it's not really disturbing for the gameplay) And the price is ok for me (about 40€ plus some refund for more games after, my enjoyment agrees) I pledge for torment after buying this, and i'll pre buy / pre order pillars of eternity too. i'm a bit tired with current AAA games which are not really interesting, after spending about 25 years of playing. I needed that, thank you again gog :) (yes and thx gog, i prefer you on steam :) )
puzzle and math (lots of divides by 10, ultiplications, and additions to do mentally), each dungeons does take about 20minutes, there is a progression, and a cloud sync but saved game has a very small size anyway. nice for small games when you have some time !
i just did 3 houses. so it is really 2 phases cycle "exploration" (go straight ahead, almost useless to wander) "puzzle" a bit slow, and i don't like the way they handle puzzles. you are a ball, you can do 3 things attract interactable items, or repulse them. and then switch buttons (usually rotates gravity like in prey (2006). graphic are ok to nice, but, it's empty, and you are a bright ball. It feels out of place. i really prefer ballance, but i realize i'm really not into that kind of game. But balance feels less "out of place", it's puzzles for a ball. Here, you could be a cube, a human, doesn't change. cannot say about the puzzle, the first 3 are easy (and sloow)
i really liked this game, even if if i was not able to complete it. Stats, scaring gameplay, have to spare resources. Only trouble, a bit hard. But one point is , you don't have to wait for recipes, you can use the wiki. anyway, for 5-10$, this game is good, mostly if 5-6 !
as said in most review. hoping for a patch. i really like the game, i bought this to prevent me the need to find the mame rom again, but it's a waste. Plus, since the game is hard, it's usefull to have mame "save state" & "load state" function. Nothing here
i think i'm about a bit more 50% of the game (maybe a lot more, i cannot tell, i managed to beat about 10 bosses) gameplay needs to be quite precise, and may be frustrating, but with a few hours, you should get the grip of it. But you still rage of being thrown out of a platform :) remember, when you need precision, use directional pad, not the thumbpad... you have a lot of choice of character development, which is really great. the game is beautiful, you feel that a lot of work has been put into game design & graphics. Only complaint for now, the map. The map is crappy, which is a shame for a castlevania like game. *special exit like a red door, are never colored. The map just tells you, there is an exit from this room. For secret inside room, you'll have to backtrack manually. *you cannot parse another section of the global map but the one you are in *connections between maps, are not mapped nor listed :) if section A leds to B & C, i've got no other way than memorize it. Which i don't. I have to walk through the whole world to find it again. very compelling game though, i'll say 4.5/5, because of the bloody map.
you cannot quit the game unless you beat the boss of a level, otherwise, you lose all your progress. Checkpoint are really far & few. And not saved. thus. Well, i enjoy playing old arcade game with emulators, because i can save the machine state. There, i can't. Bad. thus, you like to lose a lot of time : 4/5 you don't have that much time : 2/5. your time will be better spent in rogue legacy
