...but in a GOOD WAY. Visually this game is splendid, but in some of the more hectic areas with 50 or 60 enemies visible on the screen, it does stutter slightly, which can be quite annoying, and really remove you from the experience. Apart from that one small gripe, the only other issue (with the latest Steam build anyway) is difficulty level ramps up too quickly and randomly. I played the previous version for days on end, and sometimes the lack of challenge was frustrating, but you got more than 5min of play before being horrifically dismembered - sometimes by a hoard of enemies... Maybe I am just sh*t at this game :-) The rest of this game is sheer perfection. It contains about 5 genres in one, but does it so well, you would barely notice. I have stalled many times, tossing up which power up to buy, all the while fighting off endlessly spawning enemies. I play this game AT LEAST ONCE A DAY... this is from someone who would has never played a roguelike, or point-and-click game in my life. I have certainly never played a turn-based strategy game before either. This game finds the perfect mid-point between arcade platformer, and strategy roguelike. Fun for Mario fans, and even enjoyable for Diablo fans! Only the screen stuttering and insane difficulty with the most recent build, stops this getting 5 stars from me.

I don't think there is another game based on RC Cars that even comes CLOSE to this title. I had Re-Volt on PC and Dreamcast, and it quickly earned a place in my heart as a (sometimes very) challenging arcade racer. The power-ups are suitably wacky, and you will NEED to use these to have a chance at winning. Sadly, the controls were (and probably still are) very twitchy, and I found myself spinning out WAY TOO OFTEN, leading to frustration and rage-quits. The game itself looks gorgeous, and if you can adjust to the delicate controls, you will have hours and hours of joy with this game. A MUST-HAVE RACING GAME.

There are game-breaking bugs within the first two levels (10-15min) of the game. The main bug (in the teris block puzzle room) has not been fixed, even with the latest patch on Steam and GOG. I may try and play again tonight, but if the same lockup occurs, I will be shelving this title until the next few patches are released. Watch Indie Game: The Movie if you need to know the backstory and drama regarding this game.
