Screamer 2

Doesn’t hold up well I‘m afraid

Screamer 2 used to be one of my favorite games as a kid and probably my favorite racing game so I picked it up to revisit the uncomplicated fun I remember I had with it. I‘m normally a sucker for old-school graphics but I‘m afraid that this time it spoiled the fun for me. I could go on and point out every dated aspect of the graphics but honestly the screenshots above just don’t lie. The pixelation and blurryness really makes it harder at times to even steer precisely. And I don’t feel like the track design or the car dynamics really make up for it. All of this isn’t the games fault of course but sometimes games just don’t age well. So as much as it hurts me I would recommend skipping this one and instead going for something more recent (or generally different by design like say Micro Machines). PS: The game ran pretty bad on my machine at first, so much as to slow down to a handful of fps as soon as more than two cars were on screen. The help section was...well, helpful and provided an easy fix.
