Went in pretty excited and really the only 2 things that were even decent in the game were the graphics (sometimes) and parts of the story. The game design was horrendous, the open world is bare and not immersive whatsoever, the npcs are dumber than rocks, and the animation cycles are just one set of animations for every npc. I wouldn't recommend this game for anything over $20. wait for a deep sale and then maybe consider it
This game is one of the best rpgs that ive ever played and im not even a crpg fan. With how good the whole rest of the game, it was easy to overlook the top-down aspect of it. And eventually it got me so used to the game style that now i love these games. I never knew what i was missing in a whole genre of gaming until i tried this one. 10/10 game that made me question my very existence
The best rpg that I have ever played with the best dlc of any game that I've played either. Theres not enough to be said about how great the dlc in this game are, I guess you'll just have to get this and try them for yourself to see what the raving is about :p but seriously 10/10
I loved the first but obviously there could be some improvements. Not only did I find that a majority of those improvements were made, but they added a lot of little things that make the game feel so much more alive. Its a must buy for the genre imo. Obsidian's attention to detail and focus on a lot of great content is very commendable as well. Pillars of eternity has turned me into a hard obsidian fan and I hope they don't ever give me a reason to change that 7.8/10 too much water - IGN /s 10/10 for me, one of my all time favorites
The game is super well made but it isn't a style of rpg that really suits me. I played over 6 hours of it because of how many times that I was reassured that it is an amazing game and that I would love it, but I've found it just isn't for me. I was told that the story was amazing and keeps you enticed but after all this time I still haven't been pulled into it. The movement was horrible and combat doesn't feel very intuitive either, however not so much that it would really be a deal breaker for me. The world is huge and gorgeous but it feels really empty. I would go from one quest objective to another with nothing but fields that I saw. It didn't feel like the world was very interactive, it was kind of just there. For me, it also was hard for me to immerse myself in the story when I don't really have much say in the persona around the character that I play. I much prefer an rpg experience where I get to make the character feel a bit more me and have looks to match the type of person that I envision them as. I don't think I would recommend this game to people who have similar game tastes but I also definitely won't dissuade anyone from it either.
