Nostalgia at its finest

I remember opening up the case to this bad boy after my parents had gotten it at a pawn shop that a friend worked at. A small white sticker with a 10 written on it in permanent marker. Let me be clear by saying i still own the ps2 version of the game. it was quite a world, and to this day still is reasonably vast. The main cityscape is still etched in my mind's eye, and the want for an over priced Dirk dagger stands out as a lingering memory. But beyond that first foye into the games first city my memory gets foggy. Skimming through the screen shots i came across one of the character talking to an iron/stone golem. That exact line of dialogue brought back a bit more of my memory. I remember crawling around under the city trying to break into to depths of the castle only to remember a vague yet certain sense of "all that (6 hours) for HIM TO SAY THAT!?" and thats what stands out to me about this game. it has a sense of agonizing pace to it with quests ending with a bad taste in your mouth as you feel that many were retroactively discovered to be pointless in nature and execution. The games combat system is actually all D&D based and follows some older version of the ruleset. its basically a videogame interpretation of sitting around with friends playing a game and having dungeon master who has great ideas and plans.... but really poor quest resolvement and emotional bond building skills. its on my list of games to pick back up and finish just to say i did after a decade or more of it sitting in various boxes collecting dust and crossing my path occasionally reminding me to pick it back up. One last note. Go look on youtube for the infamously hilarious post-credits cutscene. it has no spoilers, it is just a skit that is absolutely hilarious.
